Sheffield Sports Medicine & Physiotherapy specialist shortlisted for national award

Sheffield Sports Medicine & Physiotherapy specialist Michael Lee has been shortlisted in the 2013 National Fitness Awards.
Michael has been nominated in the gym based personal trainer of the year category.
He used his own achievements of regaining fitness after a cruciate ligament injury to inspire others.
After recovering from the injury, which stopped him playing national level rugby, Michael went on to run the Paris Marathon twice raising £2,300 for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.
Known as ‘Miracle Mike’, he took Kate Allatt from being wheelchair-bound with Locked-in syndrome to running independently in just 18 months - something that’s never been done throughout history.
Michael is one of six finalists in the Personal Trainer of the Year category beating off competition from hundreds of nominations nationwide.
Michael, who is based at Virgin Active, in Millhouses, said: “I’m really proud to have been nominated for this prestigious award. It’s fantastic to be recognised nationally for the work I do to help improve the health and fitness of people in Sheffield.
“I’m passionate about making a difference and always treat every client individually and holistically to get the best possible results.
“It’s such a rewarding job and I take great pride in seeing clients regain lost confidence, reach a fitness goal and turn their life around.”
Michael, who has previously worked at Sheffield United, is also a consultant to Leicester City Football Club, after being headhunted by former England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson.
Sheffield Sports Medicine & Physiotherapy is a leading Sheffield practice specialising in wellbeing, sports massage, physiotherapy and podiatry.
Judith Halkerston, National Fitness Awards event director, said: “All the nominees have done really well already beating off stiff competition – it's been a tough task choosing just six as the quality of entries seems to just get better year on year. We believe we have made the right choices though and many congratulations to all the finalists.”
The National Fitness Awards celebrate excellence in the health and fitness industry.
The 2013 awards, organised by Script Media in conjunction with leading fitness magazine WorkOut, were launched in February and there have been a record number of nominations.
This year’s ceremony will take place at the Palace Hotel, in Manchester, on Friday, December 6, hosted by former TV Gladiator and fitness expert Caroline Pearce.
