Dr Michael Lee

Dr Michael Lee Sheffield Sports Medicine

Dr Michael Lee is an internationally renowned keynote speaker and clinician. He is an expert in his field and has helped over 20,000 people around the world get out of pain for good, optimise their energy, recovery and performance. Dr Lee has coached and treated Olympic Champions, Hollywood Celebrities and business owners. He was propelled to the world stage when he became the first clinician in the world to cure a patient from Locked in Syndrome (complete Paralysis) to running in eight months. His knowledge combines neurology and Chinese Medicine that creates unparalleled results that help people live healthy and happier lives.

When he is not treating, he teaches his philosophy called The ONE Method, around the world, to help people eliminate pain for good and cure ailments that were once thought to be impossible. He also coaches to help people operate at their best, help them crush self-limiting beliefs and free them from the debilitating cycle of not achieving what they truly deserve. Dr Lee has a passion for helping others by truly maximising their potential so they can constantly be at their best - physically, mentally and emotionally.

Sam Wise

Sam Wise Sheffield Sports Medicine

Sam is a passionate sport and exercise therapist here at Sheffield sports medicine and the head sports therapist at a rugby club in Leeds. He graduated from Leeds Beckett University with a BSc (Hons) degree in sport and exercise therapy and is a proud member of the Society of Sport Therapists. He is planning to go back to university to complete a master’s degree in the near future as Sam wants to pursue his passion of health and fitness further. He specialises in soft tissue work, rehabilitation, injury prevention and performance training. During Sam’s university degree he had the privilege of working in sport injury clinics, massage clinics and private clinics, giving him the experience, he needed to take on any challenge. 

Sam is a strong believer that injuries occur for a reason and that reason can be prevented through correct technique and appropriate training plans. He is constantly going through up to date evidence to provide the most up to date and effective treatments to all his patients.

He has a wide variety of hobbies mainly gravitating towards sport; however, Sam has taken a keen intertest in Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) and has been developing his skills for competition for the last 4 years. Because of this Sam decided to do his dissertation on Thai boxing and has used everything he has learnt to better his own sporting performance. 

Joyce Lee

Joyce Lee Sheffield Sports Medicine

Joyce graduated with a Masters in Chemistry and Forensics from Loughborough University. She brings a vast amount of knowledge regarding the chemical composition of food and supplements for sports nutrition. Her interest lies in how performance is affected by nutrition and by the chemicals that are found in supplements. Her desire for optimal sports performance has been evident since a young age when she represented both Hong Kong and Loughborough University in swimming, with nutrition and supplementation playing a huge part in her successful athletic career.

She believes that diet plays a vital part to our health and wellbeing being and as an avid food lover she strongly believes food can also be enjoyed. Joyce finds that dieting has been portrayed as giving up something you love but dieting can be much more of a nuanced. It is important to express that the reaction to food can differ between individuals therefore testing and planning a persons food is paramount to reaching their goal whether it is losing weight or optimising performance. Joyce would love to share her passion of the benefits of finding the correct food that fits your unique digestion process and how this can improve not only your health but also you performance.

Mr Tommy Chan

Tommy Chan Sheffield Sports Medicine

Mr Tommy Chan qualified in 2009 at the University of Salford with BSc (Hons) degree in podiatry with a keen interest in the surgical management of foot and ankle conditions. In a short space of time he became a specialist podiatrist for Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust managing musculoskeletal foot and ankle pathologies. He went on to complete a Masters in the Theory of Podiatric Surgery with the University of Huddersfield, and also gained valuable experience as a staff podiatrist at the highly reputable Department of Podiatric Surgery at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. In 2014 he was appointed as the Surgical Trainee in Podiatric Surgery, where he completed his surgical training in 2017, gaining the prestigious award to Fellowship of the College of Podiatric Surgery. He continues to work and complete his advanced surgical training with Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust at Mexborough Montagu Hospital at a senior level. He is also a Podiatric Surgeon; Specialist Registrar in Podiatric Surgery at Holywell Healthcare, Chesterfield.

Tommy is a highly skilled and experienced clinician using a range of interventions as appropriate for the individual including the use of local anaesthetic and corticosteroid injections under diagnostic ultrasound where appropriate. Tommy is experienced within the field of sports podiatry, managing elite professional athletes through to the general sports enthusiast. His attention to detail is evident during his biomechanical assessments where customised orthotics are required. He has consulted and worked with athletes from a wide range of sporting backgrounds, including professional football teams from the Premiership, Championship and League One.

Tommy is a firm believer of continual learning to update his clinical knowledge. He follows the current evidence based best practice, ensuring you always receive the latest treatments and the highest standard of care.
